Emergency care
Emergencies that require urgent veterinary care:
Our clinics offer a 24/7 emergency call-out service, with veterinarians available to respond promptly to urgent situations. We provide comprehensive on-farm assessment and stabilisation for a wide range of emergencies, including:
- Colic and gastrointestinal distress
- Respiratory emergencies (e.g., choke, acute dyspnoea)
- Foaling difficulties (dystocia) and post-foaling complications
- Severe lameness or non-weight-bearing limbs
- Trauma and lacerations
- Acute neurological signs
- Toxicities or sudden collapse.
Our emergency response involves a thorough clinical evaluation followed by appropriate stabilisation and targeted treatment based on the horse’s condition. Our priority is stabilising the patient quickly and determining the most effective course of action.
When advanced care is needed, we arrange prompt referral to a specialist hospital in Auckland for surgery or intensive medical support, ensuring continuity of care and the best outcome for your horse.
